02 / The processRescue → refurbish → customize

You don’t need new garments to carry your message.

Most merch starts as a brand-new blank, made from scratch overseas for pennies. Ours starts with clothes that already exist, remade here by skilled local workers paid a fair wage.

  1. A bin full of clothes rescued from thrift stores, waiting to be sorted.
    01

    Garment rescue

We recover unsold and unwanted clothing from local thrift stores, then sort it by type, colour and size.

  2. Close-up of the collar and shoulder seam of an enzyme-washed coral tee.
    02

    Industrial refurbishing

An industrial enzyme wash renews the fabric. Dyeing brings the colours of your run closer together.

  3. An atelier member reworking a denim garment at a sewing machine.
    03

    In-house customization

Your artwork is screen printed, then our atelier cuts, hems and finishes each piece to your direction.

Your artwork connects them.
Their histories set them apart.

Upload your artwork, pick your inks and cut, then watch it move across a run of rescued garments. Dark ink on light garments, light ink on dark ones.

Cut / hem / distress / repair

The skill is in the reworking.

Local work.
Shared possibilities.

Skilled immigrant and asylum-seeking women shape the length, sleeves and finish of the garments. They also repair and alter clothes at our community events.

These collaborations create opportunities for paid work and stronger local ties. They are part of Brique par Brique’s wider work to build community and affordable homes.
